Freshman pitcher Olivia Harrison picked up the first win of her high school career as Wilde Lake edged Long Reach, 12-11, Friday afternoon. Catcher Kourtney Harrison was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Shortstop Emma Shaffer went 3-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI. Kristen Quade (1B) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Right-fielder Rachel Reinhard went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Wilde Lake entered the final inning trailing, 9-5, and showed incredible fight, rallying to score seven runs in the top of the seventh. The Wildecats were able to end the game in the bottom of the seventh after escaping from a bases-loaded, no-out situation, ending the game with a double play.

For Long Reach, Nolena Ard went 2-for-3 with a walk and saved many passed balls behind the plate. Pitcher Jess Dubbs had five strikeouts and helped her own cause with three hits. Emily Forbs had two hits and scored three runs.

River Hill needed just five innings to dispatch Oakland Mills, 13-0.

River Hill’s Emily Posey gave up one hit in four innings. The Hawks’ bats came alive in the fourth, scoring 11 runs. Abbey DeFeo had two singles and a double.

Glenelg started the scoring after a Chloe Scepura walk, a single by Leah Allen and a three-run home run by Amanda Segrist. But Marriortts Ridge pitcher Brianna Freeman was able to settle down, backed by a solid defense, and scatter three hits over the last six innings as the Mustangs won, 8-3.

Marriotts Ridge tied the game in the top of the third inning after Freeman reached on an error and was driven home by Amy Mitchell’s RBI double. The next batter, Beth Wehr, tied the game with a two-run home run. 

Marriotts Ridge took the lead in the top of the fifth inning when Felicia Pereira lined a single into left field and Amy Mitchell followed with her second RBI double of the day.

The Mustangs added four insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Reservoir (2-0) defeated Mt. Hebron (0-1), 7-4. The Gators’ offense was led by junior Amy Bresson, who contributed two doubles and four RBIs. Outfielders Alexa Spearman and Megan Maloney contributed with outstanding defense.

Samantha Speierman allowed only two hits and was 2-for-4. Hannah Force had three hits and an RBI while C. Smith had two RBIs in leading Hammond to a 9-0 victory over Centennial.
