Connect-A-Ride Route D ends Jan. 29
Lack of fiscal year 2010 funds makes cut necessary
The last day of service for the Connect-A-Ride D route is Friday, Jan. 29, according to officials from Central Maryland Regional Transit.
In an press release, John Powell, Corridor Transportation Corp. chief executive officer, said the anticipated fiscal year 2010 funds needed to operate the D Route never materialized.
“This is especially difficult since the D Route was one of the first Connect-A-Ride bus routes established in 1989,” Powell said.
CMRT held a public meeting earlier this month to discuss the D Route service with the public and to offered alternative bus routes, including the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority’s Z 29 Metrobus route that serves South Laurel Park and Ride, Laurel Mall, Laurel Regional Hospital and the Burtonsville Crossing Park and Ride.
